Protecting a UK tech business as it prepares to transform the hair industry

Tressly is a fast growing tech startup. With a bold mission blending community and technology, they’ve carved out a strong solution for hairdressers in the UK through their new tech app solution.

We work with Tressly’s CEO and founder, Antoinette Ale, as she seeks to strengthen Tressly’s frameworks whilst building their tech offering. As a strategic legal adviser, we seek to ensure Tressly has strong foundations for the new services they are launching in 2025.

Whether you are a start up or an established business it’s essential you have legal support as you navigate through your growth and seek to protect your business. It’s important to ensure that your contracts move beyond generic online templates and protect the specific needs of your business. From helping Tressly establish contracts with third parties assisting in app development, to protecting the intellectual property of the business in key contracts, to exploring the model for Tressly's subsidiary business, Tressly has been an exciting client to work with.

Antoinette Ale - Tressly Founder Q&A

1. What has been one of your highlights so far whilst building Tressly?

"One of the biggest highlights of building Tressly has been witnessing the genuine impact it's having on the community. Connecting with hairstylists and salon owners who share how much Tressly has helped them feel seen, supported, and empowered has been truly rewarding. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that we’re creating something that adds real value to people’s lives and businesses."

2. What has been a recent challenge you’ve faced as a founder and what practical advice would you give to others dealing with something similar?

"A recent challenge has been navigating the app development process, it’s taken longer than we initially expected, which has definitely tested our patience and adaptability. That said, we chose to use this time strategically by launching a podcast and focusing on deepening our community engagement. My advice to other founders facing delays or unexpected setbacks would be: don’t wait for perfection before you show up. Use the time to build trust, tell your story, and grow your brand in other meaningful ways."

3. What has been your experience working with Count & Sol, and how has our support made a difference to your business?

"Working with Count & Sol has been a game-changer. You’ve helped us put the proper foundations in place, especially around employment contracts and ensuring we’re legally sound as a growing business. It’s taken a huge mental load off knowing we’re protected and compliant, which has allowed us to focus more on building and scaling."

4. What would you say to founders who want to scale and haven’t yet prioritised the legal aspects of their business?

"I would say: don’t wait. The earlier you get your legal house in order, the better. When you’re scaling, things move quickly, having solid legal frameworks in place gives you confidence, protects your team, and helps you make decisions faster. Prioritising the legal side of your business isn’t just about avoiding problems; it’s about setting yourself up for sustainable growth."

At Count & Sol, we’re here to support and protect your business.

💡 C&S Tip: When developing a new tech business, it is essential to ensure:

  • Correct legal structure

  • Protection of your IP

But many businesses often put legal protection to one side until it’s too late, thinking it’s too complex or expensive. For deeper insight into how Count & Sol’s ongoing legal support can help you to proactively avoid legal risks that can impact your business, book a consultation today.
